India is home to many great culturally blended dance forms .Sastria nithya ( Indian classical dance) has a religious hindu musical theater style in it and an academy named Sangeet Natak Akademi recognizes eight forms of classical dances. #1. Bharatnatyam- is the most classical Indian dance. It is popular in south indian states of tamil nadu and karnataka. It's almost 2,000 years old. It was revealed by lord brahma to bharata, a famous sage who then codified this sacred dance in a sanskrit text called natya shastra.
